Fermont Holiday Anime Faire, Ragnarok 12.0 Update and Office X-mas Party
Today's Wish: That I get well from my cold

What did you do?: just woke up from bed

Well well well, It has been a while. I have not posted in 2 weeks, so here I am posting one now.

Fremont Holiday Anime Faire

So I attended for the first time the yearly Fremont Anime Holiday Faire thru acquiring info from my BAAU friends. It was a really fun experience inside a small convention. But I was just concerned with the drawing workshop, so I was excited to learn some new things. I didn't expect the workshop comes with a free manga sketchpad and two different line widths of sakura micron pens and a sumo mech pencil, all for 5$ how awesome it that?

So Mr Ian and Miss Karen taught about not only dynamic poses, but the cause and effect dynamic posings of two stick figures, pretty interesting concept that I've never even thought about. There was also a plus when I discovered that this familiar guy across the room was Long Vo, a former Gaia Online Artist. I knew he looked familiar, but I didn't know where. His sketching abilities are quick and awesome, and I was able to ask for his autograph, he's a pretty nice person.

So around the convention, there were different workshops going on at the same time, like make your own Christmas card table, or make your own Christmas ornament for your Christmas Tree table, PMBQ merchandise, where I bought 2 awesome shirts from for a bargain price of 20$. The snack store had nice goodies, including cotton candy <3<3 Top Ramen, and beverages. There was also a Gaia Online store where they sold Gaia Online Merchandise, I was finally able to buy one of my things in the wishlist, to have my own Kiki Kitty plushie, waii!! so cute.

On the way back, I met Jill again from the previous BAUUBQ, and was nice enough to give me a ride to the station :) which was awesome of her (after eating at a Pho' for the first time).

All in all the Fremont Holiday Anime Faire was incredible, a really delightful event that had big things, for a small convention ^__^

Ragnarok Online 12.0 Patch Update

Aiyayayay! RO had just recently updated the game, and in this chapter of the stories in Midgard, Morroc City was devastated by a deadly explosion coming from the Morroc Palace, which people claim was the cause of Satan Morroc escaping from its thousand years of slumber buried under the Morroc Palace. Children lost their parents, merchants moved into the Pyramid map in makeshift tents, still trying to sell their wares, and people who are just damn affected by such trauma they have never experienced in their lives. Morroc City will never be the same again, with tens of buildings and houses totalled or partially destroyed, and the Kingdom of Rune-Midgard is in a state of panic. The Royal orders from Prontera's Castle, now that King Tristam III is no longer with them, try their best to send soldiers and willing volunteers to help restore back the former glory of a city that was once known for its awesome oasis, the City of Morroc. A sad story Indeed.

Together with this update was an implementation of the so-called BattleGrounds, where adventurers choose which Prince's side they help lend their powers in order to settle which prince will become the new king of the Marroll Kingdom. I haven't experienced the enjoyment of the game yet, however, observing my younger brother frantically playing BattleGrounds due to the incentive points and items of Valor and Bravery given to those who helped, seems to be exhilarating and exciting as well.

Office X-Mas Party

The party was just last night, and as usual, enjoyed all the free sushi I can acquire. Nothing much were very eventful just the usual, eat, play casino games and listen to music. It was very very chilly tho, and I still haven't recovered from my cold yet.

That's all so far. Since Christmas is nearby, I'm greeting everyone who checks out my blog every now and then, Merry Christmas and Happy new year!!

What did you do?: ate out with friends and family, watched bolt and twilight

Well well well, Its been a while!!
I've not been on for a while, been pretty busy with work, but since its after the Black Friday sales, I an breath a short sigh of relief. I have been experimenting and practicing the art of using Deleter Neopiko markers, and I'm improving slowly..I think.

Anyways tomorrow's my birthday! that's why I brought my family and friends out to eat :D
I had fun chatting away, while eating all the Chinese food I wanted. After that we went out to watch Pixar's Bolt, and Twilight :)

Madagascar: Escape to Africa

Aiyaya, its a heartwarming story. I loved it! I find it much more zanier and more story-plotted then the first one.

Bolt

Bolt is an awesome action-comedy movie. But overall its surrounding theme over friendship and loyalty. Worth of getting a DVD of it.

Twilight

I don't understand why its rating is a 2-star in its reviews, but for me, it worthy of a 4-star rating out of 5, because its romance-centered, and the camera panning and atmosphere was well-chosen, and the effects aren't too shabby either. And the theme seems to be very good for teens :)

Pokemon Ranger:Shadows of Almia

Ne ne, I bought this game with high hopes, it was too easy. However, I liked the fact that I get a Manaphy Egg and a Roilu for my DS, but with the downside of it needing 2 DSes, You need a very good friend to help you out with the trading part. Anyways, plotwise, the story can be easily half-guessed, if you've been used to some other pokemon games. but this one is a great way to distract kids because it was time-consuming.

Final Fantasy III

I finally was able to buy the 20$ Final Fantasy game. I was hoping it was like Final Fantasy V, because that I loved the most out of all FF games I've played (I've played okay? I've never played FFVI and up got that?) This one, since it is a different story, has the usual Final Fantasy-ish story plot, but the gameplay is similar ti FFV, except to the fact that you have a limit to your magic slots, not like FFV where you can collect all the spells available and any character can use it. Here you have to switch with each other character's spells, because they have different skills due to small spell slot space, and you usually end up painstakingly removing spells or exchanging with your other character's spells. It does get frustrating. Oh and don't forget the usual monster grinding just to level up so you can beat the boss.

That's all for now, however since the Holiday Season has begun, I wish all to enjoy their Holidays. Baibai!!

GolfLand and More
Today's Wish: That we enjoy the BaauBQ today :D
Current Music on the Head: nada
Food in thought: BBQ
What did you do?: Not really what did I do, its still in the morning. I'm currently cooking the spaghetti noodles im supposed to bring for the BAAUBQ.

Meh, I forgot to update my blog again last week, or more like couldn't due to my brothers snogging my internet.

GolfLand

Anyways, last week me and my friends from work went to GolfLand as an alternative spot if ever one of my girlfriends invitation to her new co-workers fail. So yeah we ended up eating pizza first, then some arcade game and eventually played mini-golf. I learned that if you are going to play mini-golf, you'll have to be there more then an hour to play an 18 course game, but we chose 36 hole game >.<

Ragnarok Online

It seems, that after last Saturday's victory (Jul 12, 2008) that we acquired new guild members then before, and we all tried finishing the nameless quest after that said victory. Sadly I waited and waited and became sleepy that I had to log out. However, since this week still had its 2x EXP/item event, I joined in several evenings to head off to nameless island to gain exp. And yeah I just turned level 98 yesterday woohoo. But with the event almost ending and laziness creeping back, i believe wit will take a while for me to eventually reach level 99-Shiney.

Artbook?

I've been thinking of something to really really sell whenever i'm in conventions. And I've thought of a good idea to create a nice and small glossy artbook. Ill probably be working on it as much as I can, which might reduce my gaming time in Ragnarok Online. I don't really know, but It will probably not be finished in time for SiliCon.

Netflix Sometime Sucks

The one day i get to watch a netflix movie that I want (because dad owns it so he can get everything for himself =_=) was Appleseed:Deus Ex Machina, it had to be scratched. Really bummer. Can't even know what's happening in the middle of the story without the DVD stopping. I requested a replacement tho, and hopefully they send a new one this time.

Ponderings

I'm often a reflective person. But sometimes reflecting in the past does bring rather unpleasant memories, things that you've done before that you've learned from and shiver in embarrassment due to its pure stupidity or more of my lack of self-control. I do wonder if its ever going to leave me to myself and never haunt again. But hey, I suppose a human being, while growing up had a lot of experiences, that's why we are able to eventually become wise to some certain subjects when we eventually get over such phase. I guess our conscience and memories is a reminder of what we have done before, to remind us not to do it again. However, as some people say, History does repeats itself, in one way or another. We will never know when.

That's it for now :)

What did you do?:Today? Hmm... Got some more festival tickets from RO and then played FFTA2 more, Did some emergency quick laundry at the coin laundry and played some more FFTA2

Hello Hello!!! Its been a while!! Its been around 2 weeks and it seemed that I've already forgotten my blog. Honestly, I am forgetful at times :3 But no worries! I'm here to update you all on what I've been doing with my life :)

Santa Cruz Beach

A week after my youngest brother's graduation, a friend of mine proposed that me and my other friends head for the beach. We had a good time, and there were also some bad times. I have learned a very important lesson: Bring durable slippers because the sand is scorching hot during midday. My slippers broke down, and one of my friends offered his slippers on the way back. Man, did it really scorch him >.<

Movies:

Recently I've been watching a handful of movies lately that I need to really remember hard what i've watched. So here goes...
  • Kung-Fu Panda - The animation was very smooth and comical. Storyline is very solid and the beginning starts in a slow crawl but nothing that came from there was left behind at the end.
  • Wanted - Awesome effects, the storyline is light and can be related to other 'life stories' but very graphic when it comes to sex scenes as well as the violence scenes. Better watch this at matinée price and not good for kids.
  • Hancock- Good Story, very humorous and heartwarming, and a happy ending :D
Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 2

Wooot!! I've acquired a new game and its the best one I consider among all other DS games I currently posses 8D As expected this game had a lot to offer for me. Fun, diversity of new jobs and races, made even harder to play even at normal mode and more. Took me a while to finally be able to dispatch decent clan members for a quest and many more. I couldn't take my hand off my DS even up till now, I had to wrench myself off from it to remember to update this blog XD. Best Strategy RPG around for the DS.

Ragnarok Online

I've been aware that the Hugel Festival has been around for the last two weeks due to iRO's Anniversary Celebration, however I only tried acquiring tickets for base exp just last friday because I was free from work (I finished early <3>

As for War of Emperium, it has been recently been frustrating that the Under the Moonlight Guild of Loki has been juggling duties to support fellow Allianced Guilds or to go hunt a castle for our own. As surprising as it was I was the one responsible in securing the position of the Castle Guardians to be at the Entrance at all possible time. Really frustrating when lag strikes in and you die in one blow.

Sketches

I've been doing a handful of sketches as of late out of boredom while fulfilling my daily duties. Some were awesome and some were scribbles and I'm too lazy to color them digitally or even scan them through my old scanner. Maybe one of these days you'll be able to see them in my DeviantArt Gallery.

For now I'm pretty much occupied playing Final Fantasy Tactics A2.
Until then people of the world. Take care and hear from you next time :D

What did you do?: the usual library route with a stop to Jamba Juice <3 style="font-weight: bold;">

Taiko No Tatsujin
I was able to purchase an original Taiko no Tatsujin Import from the dealer's room during Fanime from Japan Video Games. A really nice one indeed, pretty pricey but hey, Namco did not decide to bring it here to America and just translate it, so might as well buy it.

Its a really fun game, moreso when i asked a friend of mine to test out the multi player mode thru Wi-Fi with his cart. It works!! We were finally able to figure out the buttons under the wi-fi menu how those buttons work, even if I can't understand the characters. First button is the leader, and the second button is for players to come and join the leader :) With the multiplayer mode there's a questionmark note that when you hit on time pops a random effect for either yourself or your opponent. Really fun.

Oh and not to mention the 'daily letter challenge' or so what i can translate from my basic Nihongo, or 'Mainichi Tegameshi Gamu-' and whatever that last word means. it challenges you to play a certain song, the blue button is for practice, and the red button will be for the actual challenge itself. So in one day you will have to try and pass the daily challenge and the game will give you some sort of expertise rank that will be stuck under your name. oh and you can only have one music per day, after finishing that challenge that's when you'll move up to the next one. Once accomplished you receive a 'tegami' or letter next day in the mailbox with either a new song, sound effect, mode or accessories.

Just for plugging for those people who want to buy imported japanese games inside america I'm typing down Japan Video Game's Flyer here:

Summon Night:Twin Age

I was able to purchase the game last Wednesday. However, due to my recent lack of strength and vitality, I fell asleep and was only able to pop it into my DS last friday. And I was overwhelmed by the gorgeous graphics. Its may be Sprite-y but its well color coordinated.

The Initial reason why i bought this game in the first place was because of the boxart. I was able to recognize one of my favorite artist's signature drawing/coloring style, Sunaho Tobe.
Sure enough, when i checked her website, under her works section most recently was indeed this game i'm referring to. Secondly, I enjoyed the first Summon Night on the GBA and thought that it wouldn't hurt to see what's this baby's gonna look like. Indeed its as enjoyable as I have imagined it to be.

My observations from it is that it has a lot of menu's to take a look at, a huge skill tree and so on... Its like a mix of the palette and skill system from Ragnarok Online, the use of summon monsters [espers] from Final Fantasy: Revenant Wings, and the old Create Items and Upgrade Weapons system that was introduced in the Summon Night 2 GBA game. Pretty ingenious. Not to mention the loooooong conversations during cutscenes of events where you see the characters heads talk with balloons on top change expressions (kinda like how the new NPC's in Ragnarok Online's Recent Updates do)

So far, i'm really hooked into the cuteness. And I couldn't put down my DS while playing the game for hours and hours. Really worth it to play the game.

Aaaaaand back to life stuffs:

I've recently been trying to finish little by little all my unfinished works. Hopefully they are done in time to be sold as prints in SiliCon. I uploaded something new yesterday in my DeviantArt Gallery and hopefully you like it.

Fanime 2008
I am soo happy I've attended Fanime 2008. It has been a relieving experience. The only one i'll experience until next year.

I've finally finished posting my pics and vids up, come check it out :D
Fanime 2008 Pictures

*sigh* I wish it was all week, but we all know we'd be out of ideas, and money by then TAT

Okay some Highlights to tick off:
  • I saw old and new faces, really good to see people again, even though you don't personally know their names, where they're from, and what they're up to. It feels like an awesome method of uniting people of similar interests.
  • Me and my bro cosplayed for the first time. I went as a Ragnarok Online Ninja while my bro went as Red-Haired Shanks from One-Piece. Quite and experience i'll never forget to remember to keep your props secure or you'll lose them as soon as you leave the elevator of your Hotel room.
  • I discovered that the Swap Meet is the best place to get bargains. I was able to at least touch the Legendary Poring Mouse. I couldn't buy it because the owner was selling it for $100 TAT. One can also haggle prices, or it seems. I was able to haggle down Vol 1 and Vol 2 of Ragnarok Manhwa from 3$ each to 1$ each <3>
  • Karaoke room is awesome as usual. I heard people's different voices, whether it be just seconds late of lyrics or totally out of tune, it just feels so right to vent out your feelings into the song and release all the pressures of the world one has been holding onto for a year with songs.
  • I finally got to play with some people on my DS it was totally fun. Speaking of DS Games, the Dealers room had Japanese import games OMG I was sooooooooooooooooo happy, I didn't need to pay for the shipping fee <3<3>,<>
  • The Gaming Rooom, Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~~~~~!!! its the best!!! All the arcade games you can play all weekend nights looong!!! And the Console Gaming Center was more organized then last year, soo much better <3<3<3>
  • I finally got to meet the rest of the BAAU gang!! (BAY AREA ARTISTS UNITE) quite an experience to discover people from different lifestyles and own personalities. I was a little shy, but it all went alright. I tried helping sell our BAAU Down 7 debut manga :D Someone please buy our manga ^^ we still have around 300 copies more and also more of the previous issues. We were able to sell more then a hundred issues at the Artists Alley. We also had dinner at this Indian Resto called Tandoori, and since we got short of tables inside, we ate outside in the view of how San Jose evening Nightlife looks like. We also went up to the BAAU hotel room and talk about stuffs and more sales strategies. Quite an enchanted evening I had.
  • Anime Video Rooms, you gotta love them, was able to watch a couple of my fave animes, like Detective Conan, and Hellsing Ultimate, and glimpses of Dragon Ball Z, Rise of Broly, and Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust.
  • Panels are as encouraging as ever, amusing as well. I didn't imagine that Jonathan Osborne's "Who's Line Is It?" Panel could be so hilarious plus the fact that it had audience participation and with Ebner leading the crowd (Vote for Ebner for next con President!!)
  • Photos Photos Photos!!! can't have enough of it but It can't be helped if we ran out batteries and memory, we knew such things would come, but it still came even if we were prepared *sigh*
  • Best stay ever at the San Jose Hilton Hotel, they made sure they clean our rooms every time we leave <3<3<3>
  • The cosplay gathering were sooo fun!!! but more fun was the appearance of Protestors. For some reason they just appeared in the front of the Convention Center with placards saying "Turn to Jesus or Burn in Hell" and other things. Either they mistook this Fanime Convention as some sort of Religious Congregations, or they just believe that Anime Fans are heretics to the Christian Religion. Either way, it is not something i'd like to force people to just change immediately and become instant Saints. They brought Evangelism to new heights, that they did, but it is sad to hear they think liking anime is a sin in itself. Anyways I heard the Jesus cosplayer came out during the incident due to the clamor of the anime crowd and went before these protestors and had fun taking pictures with them. Quite an amazing feat from what i've seen in the videos on Youtube.

*sigh* I wait next year's Fanime ^__^ Until then keep smiling.

Media Overload
Today's Wish: something sweet
Current Music on the Head: MuShiShi Soundtrack
Food in thought: Onigiri
What did you do?: Work?

You know, ever since i've acquired my DSL internet, I've been stuck on the computer at least 3-8 hours in front of my PC.

I'm loving the services of faster internet, i can listent to podcasts even if i don't donwload them, better Ragnarok Online gaming. Playing Gaia Online and enjoying movies and anime from youtube as well as other websites that let me watch for free. These latenights i've spent doing these had cut off my sleeping time, making me late most of the time at work- Major consequences. I've always wanted to absorb a lot of info i am interested in. I've realized it but, how does one recover or even reduce the time used online for time used for sleep without feeling unfilled :( *sigh*

Secondly, i'd like to share the fact i've finally made a friend in this country, we went to the mall last week. It was actually a coincidence that we met at the bus. She's nice :) tomorrow i plan on making another set of experimental onigiri and play in the park with her. I do think it's making me feel better by unwinding with a friend. She too, as she mentioned that she's stressed, and she had fun last time. I'm going to bring tomorrow my Club Go Board and try to teach her how to play Go. I'm only 18kyu in
KGS, but meh, so long we enjoy.

By the way, have I mentioned that I'm going to attend SiliCon
http://www.siliconventions.com/ and try my luck and see if my mini-prints sell. I should save up for a couple of nights in the hotel. Hopefully i do sell something. I'm going to do some drawing service during this convention. Good luck to me.

Oh and I've finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows last night. For me it did not end tastefully, not what miraculous or extravagant ending i've ben expecting. But oh well, Its JK Rowlings book what can I do. All I can do now is to enjoy the first 6 books. bleh. life, looking forward for tomorrow :D
