I am soo happy I've attended Fanime 2008. It has been a relieving experience. The only one i'll experience until next year.
I've finally finished posting my pics and vids up, come check it out :D
Fanime 2008 Pictures
*sigh* I wish it was all week, but we all know we'd be out of ideas, and money by then TAT
Okay some Highlights to tick off:
- I saw old and new faces, really good to see people again, even though you don't personally know their names, where they're from, and what they're up to. It feels like an awesome method of uniting people of similar interests.
- Me and my bro cosplayed for the first time. I went as a Ragnarok Online Ninja while my bro went as Red-Haired Shanks from One-Piece. Quite and experience i'll never forget to remember to keep your props secure or you'll lose them as soon as you leave the elevator of your Hotel room.
- I discovered that the Swap Meet is the best place to get bargains. I was able to at least touch the Legendary Poring Mouse. I couldn't buy it because the owner was selling it for $100 TAT. One can also haggle prices, or it seems. I was able to haggle down Vol 1 and Vol 2 of Ragnarok Manhwa from 3$ each to 1$ each <3>
- Karaoke room is awesome as usual. I heard people's different voices, whether it be just seconds late of lyrics or totally out of tune, it just feels so right to vent out your feelings into the song and release all the pressures of the world one has been holding onto for a year with songs.
- I finally got to play with some people on my DS it was totally fun. Speaking of DS Games, the Dealers room had Japanese import games OMG I was sooooooooooooooooo happy, I didn't need to pay for the shipping fee <3<3>,<>
- The Gaming Rooom, Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~~~~~!!! its the best!!! All the arcade games you can play all weekend nights looong!!! And the Console Gaming Center was more organized then last year, soo much better <3<3<3>
- I finally got to meet the rest of the BAAU gang!! (BAY AREA ARTISTS UNITE) quite an experience to discover people from different lifestyles and own personalities. I was a little shy, but it all went alright. I tried helping sell our BAAU Down 7 debut manga :D Someone please buy our manga ^^ we still have around 300 copies more and also more of the previous issues. We were able to sell more then a hundred issues at the Artists Alley. We also had dinner at this Indian Resto called Tandoori, and since we got short of tables inside, we ate outside in the view of how San Jose evening Nightlife looks like. We also went up to the BAAU hotel room and talk about stuffs and more sales strategies. Quite an enchanted evening I had.
- Anime Video Rooms, you gotta love them, was able to watch a couple of my fave animes, like Detective Conan, and Hellsing Ultimate, and glimpses of Dragon Ball Z, Rise of Broly, and Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust.
- Panels are as encouraging as ever, amusing as well. I didn't imagine that Jonathan Osborne's "Who's Line Is It?" Panel could be so hilarious plus the fact that it had audience participation and with Ebner leading the crowd (Vote for Ebner for next con President!!)
- Photos Photos Photos!!! can't have enough of it but It can't be helped if we ran out batteries and memory, we knew such things would come, but it still came even if we were prepared *sigh*
- Best stay ever at the San Jose Hilton Hotel, they made sure they clean our rooms every time we leave <3<3<3>
- The cosplay gathering were sooo fun!!! but more fun was the appearance of Protestors. For some reason they just appeared in the front of the Convention Center with placards saying "Turn to Jesus or Burn in Hell" and other things. Either they mistook this Fanime Convention as some sort of Religious Congregations, or they just believe that Anime Fans are heretics to the Christian Religion. Either way, it is not something i'd like to force people to just change immediately and become instant Saints. They brought Evangelism to new heights, that they did, but it is sad to hear they think liking anime is a sin in itself. Anyways I heard the Jesus cosplayer came out during the incident due to the clamor of the anime crowd and went before these protestors and had fun taking pictures with them. Quite an amazing feat from what i've seen in the videos on Youtube.
*sigh* I wait next year's Fanime ^__^ Until then keep smiling.Labels: anime, blog, convention, DS, friend, iro, life, manga, movie, ragnarok online, shopping
